Projects

We have a long, LONG, list of projects to do that we are hopefully going to tackle sooner than later. Many of these are contingent on budget, free time, skill set, tool set, and myriad other factors.

Maybe a list here will help (and yes, I did put up completed projects so we can see how far we’ve already come!)….

Inside the house:
Painting the inside of the house
Touching up the paint on the inside of the house
Removing acoustic ceiling tiles
Refinishing the cedar ceiling
Refinishing the hardwood floors
Painting the kitchen cabinets
New appliances
Painting and hanging the front door
Replacing all door hardware
Replacing interior and exterior doors
Replace old windows with new vinyl, triple paned windows
Expand pantry
Remove knick-knack shelf in living room behind current pantry
Install curtain rod and hang curtains in living room Patch holes from curtain rod
Sew new curtains for living room (maybe make them the right length this time?) Install wood roman shades
Remove baseboard heaters throughout the house and replace with cadet heaters
Remodel the kitchen
Make pass through in kitchen to living/dining room
Install shelving for knick-knacks and art throughout
Install baseboard molding
Install window trim throughout the house

Outside of the house:
Treat and stain outside shingles
Remove and eradicate the blackberries
Remove old fence
Install new fence
Build front patio
Plant a raised bed veggie garden (this is an evolving project)
Landscape the front yard
Landscape the backyard
Remove the large Hawthorne tree
Remove the scrubby pine in front
Remove the pine tree on the west side of the house
Remove the remaining Hawthorne trees
(there are only a few more stumps that need to be removed)
Eradicate Japanese Knotweed
Expand and re-pour concrete back patio
Widen and repour concrete driveway
Reside the house with period appropriate materials
Enclose the carport and make into a garage
Remove the English Ivy
Install French drain on East side of house
Remove old gate Install new gate/sliding barn door between carport and backyard
Expand shed into garage

Bathroom
REMODEL
Remove awkward and inefficient built in
Install new vanity with storage
Install new sink
Install new subfloor and tile
Install new wall-mount toilet (or a smaller compact modern one)
Re-tile shower surround
Install tile in perimeter of room
Perhaps a new bathtub?

Master Bedroom
Make new queen size platform bed with storage
Revamp closet storage
Create floating nightstands
Hang mirror with jewelry storage behind
Replace door with frosted glass one
Replace door hardware
Replace closet doors with something different
Install built in shelving in weird old built in space
Install new lighting fixtures

Extra Bedroom (Paul’s room)
Build bookshelves/shelving unit for all our books
Buy pull out couch with storage for guests when they stay over
Make built in desk
Install new lighting fixture
